Diamond Offshore Drilling Inc. Announces Resignation of Bill Richardson From Board of Directors

HOUSTON, Jun 14, 2002 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Diamond Offshore Drilling Inc. (NYSE:DO) today announced that Bill Richardson has submitted his resignation as a member of the Company's board of directors effective June 30, 2002. On June 4, 2002, Mr. Richardson became the democratic nominee for governor of New Mexico. In light of this development, Mr. Richardson intends to resign from his corporate board positions in order to concentrate on the governor's race.

Diamond Offshore is a leader in deep water drilling. The Company's fleet of 45 offshore drilling rigs consists of 30 semisubmersibles, 14 jack-ups and one drillship. The fleet operates in the waters of six of the world's seven continents.
